Great Yarmouth and Gorleston RNLI Lifeboat Station commemorate Remembrance Day
On Sunday 12 November 2023 Great Yarmouth and Gorleston RNLI station conducted a Remembrance Service at their station and welcomed members of the public to join them.
At 9:00am the crew of Great Yarmouth and Gorleston RNLI Lifeboat prepared the station for a wonderful remembrance Sunday service.
Dressed in their RNLI finery with medals and caps on display, the crew prepared all-weather lifeboat (ALB) George and Frances Phelon and inshore lifeboat (ILB) John Rowntree to take centre stage along with ALB Samarbeta at Great Yamouth and Gorleston RNLI lifeboat station for the Remembrance Day service of which Chairman of the Guild, Rev Albert Cadmore presided.
Upon completion of the ceremony, George and Frances Phelon and John Rowntree took the various wreaths and poppies to Gorleston Pierheads where members of the public were waiting to view.
The wreaths and poppies were placed gently into the sea with the crew of both vessels standing proudly to commemorate Remembrance Day.
Station Coxswain, Andy Mason said: 'It was one of our busiest Remembrance day services we have had at Great Yarmouth and Gorleston RNLI station and it was fantastic to see so many members of the community join us at the station and at Gorleston Pier for what is a very important day for the station and our crew. It shows how much our lifeboat station means to our community and our crew are always ready 24 hours a day.'
