Fraserburgh RNLI seeks Lifeboat Operations Manager
Fraserburgh RNLI’s appearance on Thursday’s episode of Saving Lives at Sea on BBC2 and iPlayer reiterated the lifesaving role volunteers play in saving lives at sea.
The RNLI’s lifeboat station in Fraserburgh is looking for a volunteer to lead the existing team in the role of Lifeboat Operations Manager.
Established in 1858, Fraserburgh was one of the first RNLI stations in Scotland. It operates from the rugged north-east coast and the crew have been awarded 16 medals for gallantry.
All boat and shore crew follow the RNLI’s national Competency Based Training Scheme and respond to pagers when there is a request to launch the lifeboat. The wider team includes volunteer fundraisers, shop volunteers and youth education presenters.
The Lifeboat Operations Manager will help save lives at sea by carrying out the day-to-day management of the lifeboat station to ensure a permanent state of readiness for service. As a Lifeboat Operations Manager, you will provide leadership and ensure all operational activities are carried out to maintain the lifeboats and all associated equipment.
You’ll need to be a team player, a good communicator and display leadership skills. Local maritime knowledge is desirable, but not essential.
