Fraserburgh RNLI launches to fishing vessel in 12-hour shout
Fraserburgh RNLI were tasked by HM Coastguard to assist a fishing vessel suffering from engine trouble 40-miles out at sea.
The 19-metre fishing vessel with crew onboard was 40-miles from shore when it got into difficult. Before the lifeboat crew arrived on the scene, another passing fishing vessel had stopped in an attempt to help the casualty vessel.
Due to the sea conditions, the Coxswain deemed it unsafe to evacuate the people on board and the decision to attach a tow was made. The crew then made the long journey back to Fraserburgh Harbour and arrived back safely at 00.34am.
The lifeboat was then washed down, refuelled and made ready for next service by 1.20am on Thursday morning.
Fraserburgh RNLI lifeboat Coxswain/Mechanic, Vic Sutherland praised his crew and said: ‘We're all pleased that we've had a good outcome in challenging conditions and everyone is safe and well.’
