Girvan Lifeboat joined on exercise by pod of dolphins

Lifeboats News Release

Dolphins take part in Girvan crew training

Girvan lifeboat were this morning joined on their training exercise by large pod of Dolphins just off Girvan Harbour.

Just after leaving the harbour the pod showed up in large numbers and decided to have a play around, following the lifeboat for a while and generally having fun.

Girvan lifeboat coxwain/mechanic said "usually we see the odd one or two around while were out and about as well as the odd minky whale or basking shark, but this is the 1st time we have seen such a large pod so close inshore and not too far from the pier end, it was fantastic to see"

After taking some to admire nature at it's finest our volunteer crew resumed their training exercise and left the pod to resume their journey.
