The competition was organised by Chris's younger brother Ross Charlton and 145 competitors took part and fishing from Seahouses to Tynemouth Pier.

Friends and family then gathered at Cambois Club for the weigh-in.

The competition raised £2135.28 for the RNLI.

Ross Charlton said, ' It was an emotional day with friends and family coming together to remember Chris. I felt it was only fitting to hold the CBC fishing competition as we grew up fishing together in Cambois and Chris loved angling. We raised money for the RNLI as the charity is close to our hearts from growing up by the sea.'

Terry Healy, Lifeboat Operations Manager at RNLI Blyth said,' We are very grateful to Ross and his friends and family for this generous donation from the fishing competition in honour of Chris Charlton. We were delighted to be able to welcome Ross to our lifeboat station to show them how their donation will be used in saving lives at sea.'
