Former Redcar RNLI crew member Charlie Bade has passed away

Charlie had spent 20 years as a crew member at Redcar, volunteering as both an ILB (inshore lifeboat) crew member and for many years as an important part of the shore crew.

Mike Picknett, Lifeboat Operations Manager at Redcar said: ‘Charlie was a dedicated volunteer and an integral part of the crew until he retired from his volunteering duties in 2012. Even after he stood down from the crew, Charlie helped out his wife Ange with running the Redcar RNLI shop where Ange was shop manager. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.'

Charlies’ funeral will be attended by an RNLI guard of honour as well as former crew members.

Redcar currently operates a B-class lifeboat named Leicester Challenge III, paid for by the people of Leicester, and an IB1-class lifeboat named Eileen May Loach-Thomas, paid from the legacy of the late Mr Nick Thomas of Shropshire
