Dover RNLI Launched to Yacht in Distress Close to the Goodwin Sands
On the 12th October at 9:59am, the Dover lifeboat crew were tasked to attend a yacht in distress in close proximity to the Goodwin Sands.
Tasked and launched within fifteen minutes, Dover's Severn Class All-Weather Lifeboat, the 'City of London II' made best speed to the casualty vessel and assessed the scene on arrival.
With a navigational danger to the casualty and vessel, the decision was taken to tow the vessel and its owner back at best speed to Dover.
Crew deployed a tow and brought the 14m sailing vessel back to the safety of Dover Harbour.
Arriving back at the tidal basin at approximately 1pm to the waiting Coastguard Rescue Team (CRT), the crew were stood down shortly after.
