RNLI Blyth provide cover for casualty evacuation

On Saturday 7 October at 4.37pm volunteer crew from RNLI Blyth responded to their pagers

They had been requested to provide safety cover whilst a casualty was evacuated from a tall ship in the Port of Blyth.

The Atlantic 85 lifeboat was launched with 4 volunteer crew on board and remained on the River Blyth whilst the tall ship was moved from its berth to a more accessible point for the emergency services.

Partners from HM Coastguard, North East Ambulance Service and Northumberland Fire and Rescue all worked together to ensure the casualty was evacuated safely onto an awaiting ambulance.

RNLI Blyth Lifeboat Operations Manager Terry Healy said, 'We were requested to provide cover whilst our emergency services partners worked to evacuate the casualty from the tall ship. We hope the individual concerned makes a full recovery.'
