RNLI Moelfre volunteers tasked to broken down fishing vessel
Moelfre all-weather lifeboat ‘Kiwi’ launched at 5.45pm to reports of an 8 metre sports fishing vessel with four persons on board suffering from engine failure whilst wreck fishing six nautical miles northeast of Anglesey.
Vince Jones, Moelfre’s full-time mechanic and Duty coxswain for this service call, said: 'It was unfortunate the occupants of this vessel had to call for help. They had been fishing in the local area all day when their engine failed just as they planned to return to shore. They had all the correct safety and communication equipment, and the boat was a superbly equipped, modern vessel. It shows that misfortune can happen to the best and most prepared people. As always, our volunteer crew and shore crew did an excellent job, and thanks to Holyhead Coastguard for coordinating the call.'
Kiwi was back on slip at 8:pm to be made ready for her next call to service.
