Dover RNLI Chairman Retires After Twenty Five Years Service
Veteran Dover Lifeboat Station Chairman, John Turgoose has this month retired after two decades of sea-going and shore service.
Having joined Dover RNLI in 1998 as shore crew, John held a number of both operational and non-operational roles including shore and boat crew, press officer and treasurer. Since 2016 he has held the position of chairman of the Dover lifeboat management committee.
According to John: 'It has been a privilege to serve the Dover lifeboat over the past two decades and I would like to thank all those that have made the station the special place that it is today'.
John has also held positions at Walmer and has been rewarded with a number of RNLI awards including the Chief Executive's letter and a long service letter of thanks.
John was key to the move of the Dover lifeboat to its existing position on the Tidal Basin and a new station is due to open in 2024.
Retiring in October 2023, the Dover crew would like to record their thanks to John for his sterling support to the station and its crew.
