Porthdinllaen RNLI assist in Medi Vac of casualty.
Porthdinllaen`s all-weather Tamar class lifeboat was tasked by UK Coastguard at 3:15pm on Friday to assist in the evacuation of a casualty who had fallen on rocks into the sea at nearby Porthdinllaen point.
More information was received after launching that the local Cliff Rescue team at Porthdinllaen Coastguard were in attendance and had already, with the assistance of a coast steering group who were in the area at the time, managed to recover the female casualty from the sea and back onto the rocks.
Due to the location the casualty could not be reached by Paramedics. As the lifeboat arrived at the scene within minutes of launching, Coxswain Owain Williams decided the safest option was to launch the lifeboat`s on-board Y-boat with two casualty care trained crew members. Once on scene, the casualty was assessed and transferred to the safety of the all-weather lifeboat where she was made as comfortable as possible and given oxygen to aid her breathing.
Returning to station the casualty was handed over into the care of the waiting Paramedics.
Owain Williams, Coxswain of Porthdinllaen Lifeboat added: 'This was a multi-agency incident that showed the value of teamwork and training. Our thanks to all those involved and best wishes to the casualty with her recovery. Our thanks as well to all the volunteer crew and shore crew who turned up today and carrying out a professional rescue'.
