Three of the RNLI's five stations in County Down, Bangor, Donaghadee and Portaferry will benefit from the Mayor's support.

Commenting on her choices, the Mayor said: ‘I am proud to be supporting these three charities. They provide so much assistance to the people of Ards and North Down as well as those further afield. I am looking forward to hosting some fundraising events that will help to raise as much money as possible and I would encourage people to support us, either by donating some much-needed funds or by hosting events.’

Kirstin Bews, RNLI Community Manager said: ‘This is a wonderful opportunity for the RNLI. We are so grateful to the Mayor and all at Ards and Down Borough Council for choosing us as one of their charities for the year ahead.

‘As a charity, the RNLI relies on the kindness and generosity of people to power our lifesaving work and any funds raised through this partnership will help us to do just that at Bangor, Donaghadee and Portaferry lifeboat stations. We wish all involved the best of luck with what is planned for the year ahead.’
