Workington RNLI volunteers were called out at 4pm on Wednesday, September 20 after a member of the public spotted a yacht in difficulty off the Port of Workington and called Belfast Coastguard. The yacht didn't appear to be making any headway after the yacht's sail had ripped and it was struggling with the wind and tide.

Workington RNLI launched the all-weather lifeboat the Dorothy May White and the crew escorted the yacht back to Workington by 4.30pm.

The one person on board was safe and well.
