Dunmore East RNLI Lifeboat and the R117 Irish Coast Guard helicopter proudly demonstrated their joint operational capabilities in a recent combined exercise. Taking place in Waterford Harbour, south of Creadan Head, it involved a series of complex manoeuvres and simulated rescue scenarios.

The exercise featured winching operations, vessel-to-helicopter transfers, and communication drills, all of which were executed flawlessly by the combined teams. Such exercises are crucial in ensuring that both the RNLI and the Irish Coast Guard remain prepared for real-life emergency situations, enhancing the safety of our coastal and offshore waters.

Peter Grogan, Dunmore East RNLI Lifeboat Press Officer, commented on the event, “This exercise reinforces the close working relationship between Dunmore East RNLI and the R117 Coast Guard helicopter team. By training together, we ensure that we can offer the highest standard of safety and emergency response to our community and all those at sea.”
