Easter Monday launch for St Davids RNLI
St Davids inshore lifeboat Marian and Alan Clayton was tasked to help locate and assist an injured walker at 2.28pm on Easter Monday, 1st April.
HM Coastguard advised the casualty was on a footpath north of St Davids head but had no further communication with the injured individual.
The volunteer crew launched at 2.43pm and headed to St Davids head to undertake a shoreline search. Coastguard teams from St Davids and Fishguard were on scene and advised of the walker’s location, but requested assistance with pain relief for an injured leg. Three lifeboat crew went ashore at Porthmelgan and administered entonox to the casualty until the Coastguard rescue helicopter from MOD St Athan arrived. Once the casualty was airlifted and taken to Withybush hospital for further treatment, the crew stood down and returned to station at 5.35pm.
