Could you be a lifesaver? West Kirby RNLI seeks new Lifeboat Press Officer
The team at West Kirby RNLI are searching for a new volunteer Lifeboat Press Officer who will support them in saving lives at sea by sharing their inspiring stories and critical sea safety messages.
West Kirby RNLI Lifeboat Station is looking for a new volunteer Lifeboat Press Officer to join their team. The Lifeboat Press Officer helps the RNLI save lives at sea by raising awareness of the charity through promoting the activity of the lifeboat station, highlighting the lifesaving work of the volunteers and sharing key messages via local, digital and social media.
For 57 years an inshore lifeboat in West Kirby has covered the Dee Estuary of the Wirral peninsula. The lifeboat crew are all volunteers, headed up by the Lifeboat Operations Manager and Launching Authorities, all supported by a Shore Crew team. The wider team includes volunteer fundraisers, shop volunteers, administrators, treasurers and water safety presenters.
West Kirby RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager, Richard Diamond said: ‘Volunteering with us gives people the opportunity to make a real difference in their local community, to save lives at sea and become part of our one crew family.
‘We can’t keep people safe without the support of our wonderful volunteers, who truly make a difference every day no matter which role they are fulfilling. This is also a very exciting year to join the RNLI, as we celebrate 200 years of saving lives at sea.
‘Becoming West Kirby’s Lifeboat Press Officer is a great chance to play a crucial part in helping to save lives and making a real difference in your community.
‘We’re looking for enthusiastic people with an interest in writing, communications, media, and storytelling.
‘Engaging and comprehensive training and support is provided for the RNLI Lifeboat Press Officer role, and anyone interested in finding out more should head to the RNLI website.’
The RNLI provides first class training and equipment, guidance and support to all volunteers, from volunteer lifeboat crew to shop volunteers and event marshals. Find out more about the opportunities available near you at www.rnli.org/VolRoles.
