Walmer volunteers with generous Tesco cheque donation.

Former Walmer and current Dover lifeboat crew member Pete Watson, a Lead Manager at the Tesco store in Whitfield near Dover, visited Walmer lifeboat this morning, 7 April, along with colleague and Shift-Leader James Robertson to present the station with a donation of £1,000.

The money was raised from customer donations to a book stand in the store. Money raised is also being donated to RNLI Dover lifeboat.

Walmer lifeboat would like to thank Tesco and their customers for their generosity and continued support of the charity. Donations such as these help train a crew member so they have the skills to keep themselves and others safe.

Notes to editors

Walmer lifeboat station was established in 1856.

It currently operates two inshore lifeboats – a B Class Atlantic 85 Donald McLauchlan and a smaller D Class Duggie Rodbard II.

Crews have received 28 Awards for Gallantry
