On Saturday 27 April around 50 people joined a special class on the seafront at Hunstanton, to raise funds for the charity that saves lives at sea.

Alan Howlings and Mags Marciniak run ABC Tai Chi, which offers sessions in and around the Norfolk seaside town.

On Saturday they celebrated World Tai Chi Day, with a workout in aid of the RNLI.

Mags said: 'They're not state-funded, so we always like to donate because of the work they do.

'They're saving lives and risking their own lives as well.'

ABC Tai Chi has raised thousands for the charity from donations from people taking part in sessions over the last four years, since Alan and Mags have been based at nearby Heacham.

Among their regulars is Jeff Wooldridge, who is also one of the visits team at Hunstanton RNLI.

'It's the calmness, it's the mental relaxation, it's a wellbeing thing,' he said.

Notes to editor

Hunstanton RNLI operates a fast inshore lifeboat, Spirit of West Norfolk and is one of just four stations which also operate a search and rescue hovercraft.

Like more than 200 stations around the coast of the UK and Ireland, Its crew's lifesaving work is funded entirely by donations and legacies.
