RNLI Tighnabruaich Station puts out its own Mayday call to raise vital funds
RNLI Tighnabruaich station is calling on members of the public to support the RNLI’s Mayday fundraising campaign by joining the upcoming Mayday and Open Gardens event in the area on Sunday 5th May.
Six gardens throughout Tighnabruaich and Kames will be open for visiting along with stalls, BBQ and refreshments at the RNLI boat shed. Visitors can purchase a ticket for one garden for £5, or visit all 6 for £10 with funds going toward both the Kames war memorial and the RNLI.
Having recently marked it’s 200th anniversary, the RNLI annual Mayday events help to raise the funds which will help keep our lifesaving service going today and into the future.
The RNLI has revealed its lifeboats launched 1,251 times throughout Scotland in 2023, a total of 9,192 times throughout the UK and Ireland last year saving 355 lives and assisting many others. Funds raised will help support the charity’s vital lifesaving work, including the provision of important training and kit for the volunteer lifeboat crews who readily risk their own lives to save others whenever the call for help comes in.
‘As a charity we rely on the generosity of the public to take part in events like the Mayday fundraiser and generate the funds that allow us to be there when we’re needed most.’
The RNLI’s Mayday fundraiser begins on Monday 1 May and will run for the whole month across the UK and Ireland.
