The short service will mark the beginning of the RNLI’s 200th Anniversary celebrations in Aldeburgh.

Everyone is welcome - all the crew, families, fundraisers, supporters and all of the lifeboat family in the community to join and mark the occasion.

It will be an occasion to remember the vision of Sir William Hillary, the charity's founder, to celebrate the selflessness of RNLI crew past and present, which over 200 years has brought relief to many in their hour of need, and to inspire people to volunteer so that the RNLI can look ahead with confidence to the next 200 years of saving lives at sea.

Sir William Hillary said: ‘Every stranger, whom the disasters of the sea may cast on their shores, should never look for refuge in vain.’

The Rt Revd Seeley will bless the Aldeburgh lifeboats, tour the lifeboat station and meet the crew during his visit.

Aldeburgh lifeboat station has been operating since 1826 and has been part of the RNLI since 1852.
