The all-weather lifeboat, Willie & May Gall, was launched from Fraserburgh RNLI Lifeboat Station at 8:05pm and headed east along the coast towards Troup Head. The lifeboat was initially tasked to carry out a shore line search between Gardenstown Bay & Troup Head.

The lifeboat made good speed along the coast but as the volunteer crew were just approaching Troup Head they were stood down by HM Coastguard as the missing person had been found safe and well at around 8:30pm

Vic Sutherland, Fraserburgh RNLI Coxswain said: 'We’re all pleased that the missing person was found safe and well. Our volunteer crew are always ready to respond to a request to launch whenever we might be able to assist'

Vic also added: 'This was Linzi Smart's first shout since completing her training and gaining her pager. Well done Linzi and great to see new faces onboard.

The Willie & May Gall returned to Fraserburgh RNLI Lifeboat Station and was refuelled and ready for its next service at 9:30pm
