Portree Lifeboat responds to a multi-agency incident in the Broadford Bay area

About 5.55pm on Wednesday 21 February 2024, there was a multi-agency response regarding concern for a lone kayaker in the Broadford Bay area who had possibly capsized.

The RNLI assets from Portree and Kyle of Lochalsh were tasked with Portree Lifeboat arriving about 6.28pm. Both lifeboats commenced a search of the bay.

As the Coastguard Helicopter from Stornoway arrived, the casualty was located and taken to Broadford hospital for assessment before being discharged.

Portree lifeboat returned to station and was refuelled and made ready for service by 8.15pm.
