RNLI Chief Executive visits Silloth Lifeboat Station
On Tuesday (20 February) RNLI Chief Executive Mark Dowie made a special appearance at Silloth Lifeboat Station to talk to the volunteer crew and take a look at the station.
Mark began the visit by talking to crew about their backgrounds and what their roles were within the station. Volunteer crew spoke about the station, the lifeboat and various call outs. Mark spoke about his role within the RNLI over the years, talking about when he first joined as a volunteer.
Volunteer crew members then showed Mark around the station, showing him photos and articled from the archives. He then had a look at the station's Atlantic 85 lifeboat and the tractor.
Rebecca Clark, Silloth RNLI Lifeboat Press Officer said:
'The visit was positive in the sense that we were recognised by Mark, he showed enthusiasm for the station and the hard work it does. He paid thanks for all the volunteers and the terrific job that they do to keep the station running. All the volunteer crew that we have at the station give so much time and effort in what they do and I am proud to be part of it.'
Mark is visiting RNLI stations and meeting volunteers before his departure in the late summer. Everyone at Silloth RNLI Lifeboat Station would like to say thank you to Mark for his visit and we wish him all the best for his future endeavours.
