Largs Lifeboat Volunteer Crew paged at 09:42pm Tuesday 02nd Jan 2024

Lifeboats News Release

The first call out of 2024 saw the crew responding to assist Police Scotland at the scene of a road traffic collision, south of Inverkip. A car had left the carriageway and landed on the beach trapping the driver.

RNLI/Brian Rankin

Largs Lifeboat launched and made best speed to the area where once on scene they were asked to perform a close inshore search of the area as at this time it was not known if any other people had been in the car.

On completion of the search by both the Lifeboat crew and local Coastguard assets no further people were found.

The crew were then advised that it was only the driver in the car.

With this information the crew were released from service and returned to the lifeboat house where the boat was recovered, refuelled and made ready for the next service call.
