Trearddur Bay RNLI Receives generous £10,000 donation

Their friendship dates back nearly 70 years to their shared days in the RAF, beginning when they both joined in 1955. Jack expressed his gratitude, stating, ‘Ray's donation is incredibly generous. I take immense pride in our station and its work, and this substantial contribution will significantly support our training.’ Ray, residing in Valley near Trearddur Bay, has been a long-time supporter of the RNLI. Following his 32-year career in the RAF, including a decade in Search and Rescue, he retrained to become a Chiropodist, a career he maintained for 27 years. Reflecting on his donation, Ray commended the volunteers, saying, 'The work they do is admirable, and, for me, supporting them is the best service I can offer.' Mark Smith, Deputy Launch Authority, echoed Jack's sentiments, expressing deep gratitude for Ray's kindness, commenting, ‘It speaks volumes for our station that this has come from a local member of the community.’

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts. The RNLI operates 238 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland and more than 240 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK and Channel Islands. The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and government and depends on voluntary donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service. Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, its lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 142,700 lives.
