Generosity takes centre stage with donation to Invergordon RNLI
Invergordon RNLI volunteers welcome cast and crew from Easter Ross Musical Theatre to the Lifeboat Station for a cheque presentation from a recent show in anniversary celebrations
With a nautical theme, ‘Anything Goes’ is set aboard the ocean liner ‘S.S. American’ where nightclub singer/evangelist Reno Sweeney is en route from New York to England. Her friend Billy Crocker has stowed away to be near his love Hope Harcourt, and with elaborate disguises, tap-dancing sailors and good old-fashioned blackmail Reno and her crew mates help Billy in his quest to win Hope’s heart.
Show lead Kerry Russell (Reno Sweeny) in her sailors outfit along with group chairperson Anne Hurst presented the fantastic amount to lifeboat coxswain Andrew Murray looked on by volunteer lifeboat crew and members of ERMT before embarking on a tour of the Invergordon’s all-weather launch a memory lifeboat ‘RNLB Agnes AP Barr’ by the dedicated volunteers from the station’s visit team led by Susan and Melanie.
ERMT secretary Allena Macleod advised ‘It seemed very fitting that this year’s Easter Ross Musical Theatre charity collection should be in aid of the Invergordon RNLI. It is thanks to the generosity of audiences, who attended this year’s shows, that such a fantastic sum was raised.’
Invergordon Lifeboat Crew and Lifeboat Press Officer Michael MacDonald said ‘From myself and all the crew Invergordon RNLI would like to thank all crew, cast, backstage and management at Easter Ross Musical Theatre for this very kind amazing donation in the light of their recent show as we both celebrate our 50th Anniversaries in 2024.
