RNLI Chief Executive visits Lytham St Annes Lifeboat Station
Station volunteers welcome Mark on his first visit to Lytham St Annes RNLI.
On Thursday 22 February, RNLI Chief Executive Mark Dowie arrived at the Shannon Lifeboat House on South Promenade at 8.45am to meet and talk to station volunteers in this year of the RNLI’s Bicentenary.
He was welcomed by Lytham St Annes Lifeboat Operations Manager (LOM) Pete Whalley, and Branch Chairman Digby Moulden, before everyone gathered in the crew room for an informal catch up about all the plans in what is a special anniversary year for the lifesaving charity.
Questions and answers followed before Mark was shown around the boathouse, souvenir shop and viewing gallery. All were happy with the visit and thanked Mark who is to retire as Chief Executive in a few months’ time, although he plans continue supporting the charity in a volunteer capacity, by joining his wife as a RNLI Shop Volunteer in the Salcombe RNLI Shop.
Lytham St Annes RNLI Station Branch Chairman, Digby Moulden said:
‘It was great to welcome Mark to our lifeboat station for the first time and show him around. It’s an exciting year for us as we celebrate the RNLI’s 200th anniversary – and each lifeboat station across the British Isles and Ireland will be celebrating in their own special way.
‘We enjoyed his visit to us and wish him well on his upcoming retirement from the post of RNLI Chief Executive.’
