Thursday shout for Largs RNLI

Lifeboats News Release

Largs lifeboat R.A. Wilson was launched at 10:19am on Thursday 7 March 2024 in response to a tasking from HM Coastguard following reports of a person in the water off Wemyss Bay Pier.

The volunteer crew made best speed to the given location, on arrival they started a search however it was quickly established the person in the water was a diver who had surfaced too quickly and had been taken to Inverkip Marina by their dive boat.

Largs lifeboat was then stood down by HM Coastguard and returned to the lifeboat station where it was cleaned, refuelled and made ready for service.

Volunteer helm, David Linton, said; ‘If you get into difficulty at sea or along the coast, or spot someone else in trouble, always dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.’
