Kayaker assisted by Troon RNLI lifeboat crew

At 1.22pm on Monday 18 March 2024, Belfast Coastguard requested the launch of Troon RNLI all-weather lifeboat to assist a kayaker in difficulty due to an offshore wind near to the Ballast Bank, Troon.

With the pagers activated, the volunteer crew began assembling at the lifeboat station as Belfast Coastguard also tasked the Ayr Coastguard Rescue Team.

As Trent class RNLI all-weather lifeboat RNLB Jim Moffat exited the harbour the lifeboat crew soon had the kayaker in sight. Once alongside, after speaking to the kayaker, they were taken aboard the all-weather lifeboat and transferred to the lifeboat station where they were met by the coastguard team.

With the kayaker ashore, the lifeboat was then made ‘ready for service’ with the assistance of the shore crew.
