Pembrokeshire College welcomes RNLI 200 fundraisers

Naomi Rees, RNLI Face-to-Face (F2F) Fundraising Manager for South & West Wales, and Jon Hutson, Deputy F2F Fundraising Manager, set up a stand in the main atrium area of Pembrokeshire College and were busy talking to students about this milestone in the RNLI's history and explaining the different opportunities there were to become part of their team.

Every year, F2F fundraisers help thousands of people by inspiring new supporters to donate and helping lifeboat crews and lifeguards to save every one they can. They also share advice that will help people stay safe in and by the water. Lives have been saved thanks to advice given out by RNLI F2F fundraisers.

Naomi said of the day: 'We were busy spreading the news about our F2F Team and the exciting opportunities we have this summer! As a F2F fundraiser we promote beach safety across a number of our lifeguarded beaches and lifeboat stations, as well as encourage members of the public to support the RNLI through our membership scheme. We are eager to recruit locally, hence being at Pembrokeshire College today.'

Denys Bassett-Jones, who is an volunteer crew member on Little & Broad Haven RNLI's inshore lifeboat - and also a tutor at Pembrokeshire College, said:

'It was great to welcome Naomi and Jon into the College to help celebrate this special anniversary. As someone who is on the frontline on RNLI lifesaving, it was fascinating to meet Naomi and Jon and find out about all the good work they do as part of our one crew that keeps us afloat and ready to save lives. We certainly wouldn't be able to carry out our rescues with the excellent equipment we have without their support, and that of all the fundraisers up and down the country.'

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland coasts. The RNLI operates 238 lifeboat stations in the UK and Ireland and more than 240 lifeguard units on beaches around the UK and Channel Islands.
