Wells RNLI D class lifeboat assists two people in a 6-metre inflatable dinghy

Wells inshore lifeboat was paged by HM Coast Guard at 5:48pm and launched outside the boathouse on the North slipway at 6:00pm to render assistance to two people who had broken down in Blakeney harbour in a rigid inflatable boat, they were requesting assistance to get safely back to the shore.

Wells D Class lifeboat ‘Peter Wilcox’ launched to assist two people in a rigid inflatable off Blakeney harbour
Darkness was approaching and inshore lifeboat ‘Peter Wilcox’ made quick progress down to Blakeney and located the disabled craft at 6:16pm. Once the lifeboat alongside the at 6:21pm it was quickly ascertained that both the crew onboard were well and required no medical assistance.


The decision was taken to rig a towrope and take the craft to the safety of Morston Harbour for the safety of the people onboard.
The tow commenced at 6:26pm and both boats arrived at the harbour foreshore in Morston at 6:37pm and the disabled craft and crew were handed over to the local Coast Guard unit who were on scene.

The inshore lifeboat then left Morston at 6:40pm
The Lifeboat was then washed down and prepared again for service and was rehoused at 7:40pm
