Troon RNLI lifeboat crew launched to assist persons in the water at Irvine
At 8.49pm on Wednesday 27 March 2024, Belfast Coastguard paged the volunteer RNLI lifeboat crew after reports to Police Scotland of 2 persons in the water at the River Irvine.
With both lifeboats launched, Belfast Coastguard provided the volunteer crews with a search plan. The D class inshore lifeboat made its way towards the last known position of the casualties while the Trent class all-weather lifeboat remained searching outside the harbour as the Coastguard Teams searched from the shore.
After a comprehensive search of the area was completed by all the teams, and with nothing found and no further information received, the search was stood down by Belfast Coastguard.
Both lifeboats then returned to Troon and were made ‘ready for service’ with the assistance of the shore crew.
