Portpatrick RNLI volunteer takes on Mayday Mile by completing West Highland Way
Jeanette Hardy, a volunteer Lifeboat Press Officer for Portpatrick RNLI, has taken on her very own Mayday Mile by completing the West Highland Way, plus many more miles, during the month of May to raise money for the RNLI.
Jeanette, accompanied by her dog, Tyler, completed the West Highland Way in 8 days, covering a total of 96 miles and raising over £1,000 for the RNLI so far.
The fundraising duo began their challenge on Friday 26 April at Milngavie on the edge of Glasgow and finished on Friday 3 May in Fort William at the foot of Ben Nevis.
However, the challenge isn’t over just yet, as Jeanette continues her Mayday miles throughout the month of May and has covered over 250 miles to date.
She says: ‘I’m completing this Mayday challenge to help RNLI crews save lives at sea. Being the Lifeboat Press Officer at Portpatrick RNLI, I see first-hand the incredible work our lifesaving volunteers do and this money will really make a difference.
‘Thank you so much to everyone who has already sponsored us on our challenge so far!’
