Burnham RNLI Lifeboat Crew tasked to assist couple at the Lower Lighthouse
After nearly 20 years together, Burnham-on-Sea RNLI Deputy Press Officer Lyndon decided there was no better place to get down on one knee than here on our coastline in front of our iconic Lower Lighthouse
Blessed with the great weather and calm sea state, the extra “tasking” was on the way back from the Sunday training launch on exercise with
RNLI Weston-super-Mare. Henceforth, Lyndon and Kelly were on a beach walk with family members, when along came the station Atlantic 85 displaying a 3 metre banner displaying the words 'MARRY ME KELLY?'.
Lyndon says; ‘Thankfully she said yes! Utilising the expert help of our two helms Scott and Marc, Launch Authority Phil, and all volunteer crew on-board, the plans had run exactly to schedule - with the shallower draft D-Class even able to nose-in for two volunteer crew members to come ashore on the beach and share their congratulations.’
He added; ‘Finally a big Thanks goes to Mike Lang Photography for these wonderful photographs and memories to last a lifetime.’
