Tobermory RNLI goes to aid of man at Rubha nan Gall lighthouse

Tobermory RNLI’s Severn class lifeboat, Elizabeth Fairlie Ramsey, was launched shortly before midnight with two paramedics on board. With the lighthouse being just one mile north from the lifeboat station, the crew were quickly on the scene and a volunteer crew member and the paramedics went ashore in the lifeboat’s daughter craft, the Y boat.

After checking over the casualty who was uninjured, the man was transferred onto the lifeboat and taken back to Tobermory from where he was taken to hospital to be assessed.

Tobermory RNLI Station Coxswain, David McHaffie said ‘This was a multi-agency operation involving colleagues from the Scottish Ambulance Service and Police Scotland as well as Mull’s Coastguard Rescue Teams. We are grateful to the three visitors who alerted the emergency services and pleased that there has been a good outcome. If you see anyone in difficulty at the coast, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard’.
