Clacton RNLI called to report of missing person
On Monday 20 May 2024 around 5.45am in the early morning, a call out was requested for the volunteer crew to launch with reports of a missing person.
Our volunteer crew launched their D-Class ILB (Inshore Lifeboat) ‘Damars Pride’ into calm sea conditions and good visibility and made their way to the last reported location in the area of Martello caravan park.
The crew quickly established a shoreline search which began from the lifeboat station in Clacton through to Colne Point, but after searching 2.5 search legs no casualty was located.
In communication with Essex Police the crew were informed that there was a possible sighting of the casualty on Clacton sea front. Shortly after, Essex Police confirmed that the casualty was safe, so the boat crew was stood down.
The lifeboat returned to the lifeboat station where it was cleaned, refuelled and was ready for service at 7.15am.
