The 'ducks' at the start line

The weather was kind as volunteer fundraisers sold cakes and duck names from midday. Such was the demand to participate, every one of the 491 ducks sold in advance of the 2pm start.

Launching the ducks into the River Alun from the old cathedral stone bridge, the ducks swiftly made their journey downstream to the winning line at the wooden bridge. Crowds of visitors and locals enjoyed the family fun at the start of half term week.

Ducks Sheena, Colin and Toby were the respective winners of cash prizes. An incredible sum of £1383.11 was raised to help the station continue its lifesaving work.
