Ultramarathon runner raising funds for Hartlepool RNLI
A 39 year old Hartlepool man is set to raise funds for the RNLI charity by taking part in 'The Wall Ultramarathon' which is a 70 mile route along Hadrians Wall from Carlisle to Newcastle.
Craig said 'I am really looking forward to the event and raising some money for the RNLI.
I was a crewmember at the Hartlepool lifeboat station for thirteen years so I know how important the charity relies on donations from the public to provide a life saving service. My dad Steve is a volunteer crewmember at the station and my brother Liam works for the charity as a Coxswain(Afloat Mechanic).
This is my first ultramaraton and the training is going really well and I've had great support from my wife Sarah, daughter Esme and son Rory.
I set off from Carlisle Castle along with the other participants at 7.00am on Saturday 15th June and finish at the Newcastle Quayside the next day in the early hours of Sunday morning. It will be a massive sense of achievement to complete the challenging route in about 20 hours or less but just as important I'll be playing my part in helping those who save lives at sea.'
