Sally and Antony’s final steps into Bude RNLI station

On Wednesday 22nd May the couple from St Austell crossed the finish line back at Bude RNLI station after a tremendous 5,945 miles.

Sally and Antony set off on 15th May 2023 and headed north from Bude to begin their 6000 mile journey. With a sunny summer ahead the couple averaged 16 miles a day making their along the west coast.

Enduring one of the wettest winters on record with storm after storm, they visited some of the UK’s most beautiful and remote locations while popping into 157 RNLI lifeboat stations along their way.

Bude RNLI volunteer fundraisers, shop and station crews celebrated with sally and Antony along with their support crew.

With plenty of cake, pasties and refreshments, with live music from the ‘beach huts’.

Sue Kershaw volunteer fundraising secretary said

“Bude had the honour to set Sally and Antony off on their 6000 mile walk and the pleasure of welcoming them back last Wednesday. It’s an absolutely fantastic achievement and they raised a significant amount for the RNLI which will help save lives at sea. Thank you Sally and Antony - can’t wait for the book”

Heart felt thank you to the couple from all our volunteer crews for giving their time and amazing efforts and supporting the RNLI so we can continue to save lives at sea.

What a fantastic challenge to take on…
