Funeral donations

Organise an RNLI collection for your loved one’s funeral or memorial service, and you’ll be honouring them in a meaningful way.

In addition to a collection, you can post details of your loved one’s funeral or memorial service online. And you can create a lasting online memorial for family and friends so their memory lives on.

By honouring your loved one in this way you’ll help power RNLI lifesavers to the rescue, day and night, rain or shine. You’ll help avert tragedies at sea and bring lifeboat crews safely home to their loved ones.

Order funeral donation envelopes

We can send you special RNLI envelopes to use for a funeral collection, making it easy for friends and family to donate to a loved one.

They can be used to collect at a funeral – or before or after the service, for those who could not attend on the day.

Funeral directors are usually happy to collect the envelopes on your behalf and send back to the RNLI.

By using the envelopes, you could also raise up to 25% more as the RNLI can claim Gift Aid.

Pay in your collection

Online

It’s easy to send your collection donations to us online.

Offline

If you wish to post your collection donations, please give us the following information so we can acknowledge your generosity appropriately.

  • the name of the person the funds are in memory of

  • your details, and where you would like us to post an acknowledgement to.

If you prefer to send us the individual donations we’re happy to process these for you. To keep your donations safe, please don’t send any cash in the post.

Please send cheques to: RNLI Legacy and In Memory Team, RNLI, West Quay Road, Poole, BH15 1HZ.

If you wish, you can specify where or how you would like us to spend your collection donations, eg for a particular lifeboat station, crew training or another area of the RNLI’s work. Please ask us about this before organising your collection.

Notify family and friends

You can share the details of a funeral or memorial service with family and friends by posting an online funeral notice. To do this you’ll need to create a page on the RNLI Forever by the Sea Tribute Fund website for your loved one. You can do this by filling out the online form on this page.

Once set up, you can use the funeral notice page in other ways too – to collect donations in lieu of flowers, or as an online memorial to share photos and memories to celebrate your loved one’s life.

We work with our trusted not-for-profit partner MuchLoved to make setting up a funeral notice quick and easy to do.

1 Tell us a few details about you and your loved one

2 Personalise your tribute fund with photos or videos

3 Choose the visibility setting for your page: private or public

4 Share the link so others can visit, post memories, leave a gift or take part in fundraising events

Thank you

We are so grateful to you - and your family and friends - for thinking of us at this difficult time.

A donation in memory makes incredible feats of bravery possible by our lifesaving volunteers – and a gift of any size, large or small, helps keep them safe.
