Your Launch a Memory Clifden updates
Thank you for remembering your loved one by adding their name to the Clifden lifeboat. Welcome to your updates page, where you can keep track of the lifeboat’s progress.
1. An update about the Clifden Lifeboat
Welcome home St Christopher! Over the weekend 14 - 15th May, our Clifden all-weather Shannon class arrived bathed in sunlight to an emotional welcome from volunteers and supporters after a week-long voyage from our All-weather Lifeboat Centre in Poole. It was a poignant day for so many, as this special lifeboat carries the names of over 10,000 loved ones who will be celebrated and remembered every time the crew heads out to save lives at sea. 2. Getting up close with the lifeboat
We recently had the privilege of welcoming a number of you to come to see the Clifden lifeboat at the All-weather Lifeboat Centre in Poole. These are very special events we were honoured to meet many of you and hear the stories you shared of your loved ones.
For those unable to attend, we recorded a short video of the event which is available to watch now. Launch a Memory is a very special campaign, with extra special supporters and we look forward to your lifeboat arriving on station in summer this year.
3. Brand New Clifden Retail Range
We’ve developed a range of high-quality, affordable mementos that are available to purchase now, so that you can keep your loved one’s memory next to you, as well as on the lifeboat beside the Clifden lifeboat crew when they launch to save lives at sea.
4. Clifden Station Visits
The Shannon class lifeboat is not visible at Clifden station and is moored out in the harbour so it is not possible to view your loved one’s name up close. There is a billboard replica of the lifeboat decals outside the station that can be seen. Although we love to share the work we do, we please ask that supporters do not turn up to the station expecting to see the lifeboat.
