Bangor's station history
1965
Inshore lifeboat station established in May with the placing on service of a D class lifeboat.
1988
D class lifeboat withdrawn and replaced with an Atlantic 21 lifeboat, B-513, on 25 March.
1991
HRH Prince Edward named the new station lifeboat B-584, Youth of Ulster at Bangor on 20 August. The Youth of Ulster was officially placed on service on 21 November 1990.
2006
The new class of lifeboat Atlantic 85 B805 Jessie Hillyard was placed on service on Sunday 8 October. This lifeboat was funded by a generous gift from Eileen Freeman in memory of her mother the late Jessie Hillyard of Donaghadee. Mrs Freeman was the wife of Eric Freeman, a former member of the RNLI Committee of Management and now a Vice President. Lifeboat D-479 has been withdrawn to ILC Cowes.
2010
Her Majesty The Queen, honoured crew member Brian Meharg in her Birthday List by making him a Member, Order of the British Empire (MBE).
