Cowes' station history

2008

A new station Atlantic 85 lifeboat B-810 Tabbycat was placed on service on 1 July.

2012

Following the visit on Thursday 10 November 2011 by the Coast Review delegation, led by Rear Admiral John Tolhurst, it was agreed by the Operations Committee on 21 March 2012 and resolved by the Trustee Board at their meeting on 4 April 2012 that there be no change to the lifeboat cover provided by Cowes Lifeboat Station.

New station Atlantic 85, B-859 class lifeboat Sheena Louise was placed on service 9 June 2012. Lifeboat B-810 Tabbycat has been withdrawn.

2013

Lifeboat station was opened by HM the Queen on 25 July. It is the only station to be opened by the Queen herself.

Established 1989, taken over by the RNLI May 2008.

A formal request was received in 2008 from the Trustees of Cowes Inshore Lifeboat (CIL) requesting the RNLI take over operations.
