Kilrush's Station history

1995

New boathouse and launching slipway constructed. It includes housing for a B class lifeboat and launching vehicle, a workshop, souvenir sales outlet, fuel store and improved crew facilities.

1996

Atlantic 21 class lifeboat placed on temporary station duty as of 10 April.

New station Atlantic 75 class lifeboat B-729 Rose West was placed on service on 9 October.

2010

The new station Atlantic 85 class lifeboat B-844 Edith Louise Eastwick has been placed on service 19 August 2010. This lifeboat was funded by Miss R D West. Lifeboat B-729 Rose West has been withdrawn to the relief fleet.

At the Executive Committee Meeting held on 24 November 1993, it was resolved that an Atlantic lifeboat station be established at Kilrush to provide additional cover on the west coast of Ireland, especially the Shannon Estuary, where there had been a significant upsurge in water sports and commercial activities.
