Little and Broad Haven's station history

Lifeboat station established and named Littlehaven.

Lifeboat house and slipway constructed at a cost of £1,600.

Station closed March 1921, owing to the difficulty in obtaining a crew, the disappearance of inshore traffic and the coverage given by the St David's and Angle lifeboats.

Inshore lifeboat station established in May with the placing on service of a D class lifeboat and named Little and Broad Haven.

New boathouse constructed. As well as housing the D class lifeboat it includes a drying room and souvenir sales outlet.

Bronze Medal awarded to Helmsman Crispin Williamson in recognition of his courage, initiative and seamanship when the lifeboat rescued six people cut off by a rising tide at the foot of the cliffs at North Haven in heavy breaking seas and Force 5 Fresh Breeze on 23 September 1995. The family, consisting of two adults and five children were out in a 10ft dinghy when in deteriorating weather their dinghy was swamped and had to be abandoned. The Thanks of the Institution inscribed on Vellum were accorded to crew members Brian Dilly and David Love in recognition of their initiative, seamanship and teamwork during this very difficult service.

New D class lifeboat D484 was placed on service on 4 July.

Following the visit on 6 September 2001 by the Coast Review delegation, led by Commodore R C Hastie, it was agreed by the Search and Rescue Committee on 6 February 2002 and resolved by the Executive Committee at their meeting on 10 April 2002 that there be no change to the lifeboat cover provided at Little and Broad Haven Lifeboat Station.

A framed Letter of Thanks signed by the Chairman of the Institution awarded to Helmsman Crispin Williamson in recognition of his seamanship and boat handling skill when the D class inshore lifeboat saved three children cut off by the tide at the bottom of a cliff at Little Haven.

The new class of lifeboat IB1, D628 Austin Burnett was placed on service on Thursday 5 August. D484 has been withdrawn.

Following the visit on Wednesday 25 January 2012 by the Coast Review delegation, led by Rear Admiral John Tolhurst, it was agreed by the Operations Committee on 21 March 2012 and resolved by the Trustee Board at their meeting on 4 April 2012 that there be no change to the lifeboat cover provided by Little and Broad Haven Lifeboat Station.

The new D Class lifeboat D-766 Jack & Edith May was placed on service on 20 March 2014. This lifeboat was funded by the generous bequest of Mr John Andrew Sims. Lifeboat D-628 Austin Burnett has been withdrawn.
