Lochinver's station history

Solent class lifeboat withdrawn and replaced by an Arun class.

1991

Highland Regional Council undertook a large redevelopment of the harbour and this comprised the construction of a finger jetty and fish market building, as well as a new berth for the station's Arun class lifeboat.

1993-1994

New single-storey shore facility constructed adjacent to the lifeboat berth. It includes a crew room, changing room, workshop, store, toilet and shower facilities.

2003

The new station Severn class lifeboat ON1271 Julian Maynard Leonard was placed on service on 25 November. Lifeboat ON1144 Murray Lornie has been withdrawn to the relief fleet.

2004

New pontoon berth completed in January at a cost of £291,798.

As a result of trials carried out during the winter of 1966/67, and a review of future requirements undertaken by a coast review working party of the RNLI, it was decided that a lifeboat should be stationed at Lochinver.

Lochinver lifeboat station became operational on 18 August 1967.
