Longhope RNLI receive visit from Chief Executive Mark Dowie
Mark Dowie, appointed Chief Executive in May 2019, is a former naval officer and company director. A keen sailor, he was also Lifeboat Operations Manager at Salcombe RNLI Lifeboat Station for 2 years. He will be retiring from the charity in June this year after five years in charge.
On Tuesday 9 April, Longhope RNLI Lifeboat Station were visited by RNLI Chief Executive, Mark Dowie, on a our of Orkney, Shetland and the North East of Scotland.
Having nearly completed his journey of visiting all RNLI lifeboat stations around the UK and Ireland, Mark said: ‘It is a great privilege to be in Northern Scotland and the Isles. There is such a huge amount of lifeboat history here and it is an honour to be at Longhope with its massive continual commitment to the RNLI and saving lives at sea.’
To complete his visit to Longhope station, which is celebrating its 150th Anniversary, the station were proud to show Mark around the Longhope Lifeboat Museum at Brims which is home to vintage lifeboat the Thomas McCunn which was on service in Longhope between 1933 to1962.
Everyone at Longhope RNLI wish Mark Dowie all the very best for the future and thank him for visiting RNLI Longhope.
