Harbour shout for RNLI Penlee

The Penlee Inshore Lifeboat launched within six minutes of the request and was on scene three minutes later. A crew of four RNLI volunteers located the casualty and informed the Coastguard that he was out of the water, conscious but cold.

Penzance Coastguard Cliff Rescue team took over the care and kept the casualty warm until an ambulance arrived.

Penlee’s inshore lifeboat was released and arrived back in Newlyn at 7:50pm. The four RNLI volunteer crew onboard the lifeboat were bolstered by a further nine volunteers who had responded to the call.

Always wear an appropriate lifejacket or buoyancy aid when on deck. If you use a dinghy or tender to access your boat make sure you always wear your lifejacket.
Always carry a means of calling for help. Ensure everyone onboard knows how to use it. Consider having an additional method like the SafeTrx app. You can also use this app to plan your voyage, and it can alert the coastguard if you are overdue. You should also register your vessel with the coastguard through this app.
