Fred. Olsen and the RNLI
Working together to raise funds and keep Fred. Olsen's guests and crew safe.
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines is proud to be the RNLI's longest-standing corporate partner, with a history that spans more than 60 years.
It all started in the 1960s when RNLI volunteer Howard Bell and his wife Poppy started fundraising on board a Fred. Olsen cruise.
Since then, our relationship has grown and the generosity of Fred. Olsen's guests and crew has raised over £1 million, making a lifesaving difference at the RNLI.
Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines have funded a total of five inshore lifeboats over the years, including the Pride of Fred. Olsen - a B class Atlantic 85lifeboat which joined the RNLI's relief fleet in 2018.
In addition, in recent years, Fred. Olsen Cruise Line guests have also funded:
• three mobile training units
• three seminar rooms at RNLI College in Poole
• the development and cost of three lifeboat launching trolleys
• mobile health check kiosks for divers
• RNLI apprenticeships
On board Fred. Olsen's fleet of three smaller ships, Bolette, Borealis, and Balmoral you can enjoy scenic cruising in places larger ships can't go. From cruising the Norwegian Fjords in springtime, to enjoying an around the world cruise, Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines' 175 years of maritime heritage make each cruise an unforgettable experience.
So, if you're planning a cruise, don't forget that when you sail with Fred. Olsen, you can help raise money for the RNLI too.
