The Lifeboat Fund and the RNLI
The Lifeboat Fund is proud to be the single largest regular contributor to the RNLI.
The Lifeboat Fund is an official charity, which was set up over 150 years ago by civil servants and is run to this day by the Civil Service. It raises funds through donations from both serving and retired employees and from legacies. Civil servants across the UK organise fundraising collections and promote the lifesaving work of the RNLI.
All money raised by the fund goes directly to support the RNLI. Since it was formed, The Lifeboat Fund has donated over £26 million which has provided the RNLI with 54 new lifeboats as well as refurbishing lifeboat stations and boats, buying crew kit and equipment, and training RNLI volunteer lifeboat crews and RNLI lifeguards. They are currently raising money for Tower, Whitby, Stonehaven and Blackpool Lifeboat Stations and our international work in Tanzania.
